Saddleworth Rushcart Weekend 21st-22nd August 2027
Rushcart is a tradition of rushbearing that originated in north-west England, whereby decorated carts were loaded with rushes and taken to the local church, accompanied by Morris dancers and other entertainment.

Saturday, August 21
9.45 am: Uppermill, The Commercial
10.30-11.30 am: Greenfield, King William IV and Road End
12-1.15 pm: Uppermill, The park, Hare & Hounds, The Museum
2-3.30 pm: Delph Gartside St and White Lion
4-5.15 pm: Dobcross, The Swan Inn and Band Club
5.30-6.30 pm: Dobcross, The Navigation
6.45 pm: Return to The Commercial
Sunday, August 22
10 am: Cart leaves Uppermill Square
11 am-12 pm: Rushcart service in St Chad Parish Church
12 pm onwards: Church Inn and Cross Keys, morris dancing, the worst singer competition, and gurning.
